Waiting for Relief

Oil on canvas. I saw a picture in the Tribune on December 27th, 2004 of these women waiting for food and water in Sri Lanka after the Tsunami. I thought that the woman in the front had such an intense and powerful look...so I had to keep it. And then when I found out that my friend Purva was getting married, I decided to paint this for her and her new husband, Terry.
